
Francisco Garza
President and Director General of General Motors for Mexico,
Central America and the Caribbean
Francisco’s 24-year profession trajectory in the Automotive Industry in Mexico and several other countries began in the area o distribution. In 1998, he joined General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), working as Operations Manager responsible for the launch of the Extended Warranty Program in Mexico. In 2001, he was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing for Mexico, where he led the General Motors financing programs strategy.
In 2005, he was promoted to Chairman of the Board and Managing Director for GMAC in Ecuador. After this assignment, he was appointed Chairman of the Board and General Manager for GMAC Argentina. Subsequently, in 2009, he held the position of Chairman of the Board and General Manager of GM Financial Mexico, the first Mexican to take the reins of this business unit. In 2011, he was named Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing for General Motors Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean; and since September 1, 2019, he has held the post of President and CEO responsible for both Export and Domestic Markets.
General Motors has had operated continuously in Mexico for 86 years, marketing motor vehicles under the brands Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. GM currently has production plants in Coahuila, Guanajuato, SLP, and the State of Mexico; and its Regional Engineering Center and Parts Warehouse is in the City of Toluca. GM Corporate Offices are in Mexico City. GM is the number one employer in the automotive industry in Mexico, employing 21,000 workers directly, and it is the leading producer and exporter in the sector.
Francisco serves on the boards of several Chambers and Associations, such as the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and the Executive Council of Global Companies (CEEG). He also chairs the Corporate American Advisory Council of the American Society of Mexico (AmSoc).
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Valle Continental and a master’s degree from the IDE Business School, an institution partnered with the Universidad de Navarra (IESE). Additionally, he has completed studies in diverse advanced programs in Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
